President Barack Obama has tapped a registered nurse, Mary Wakefield, to head the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency that helps deliver health care to the uninsured and underserved in America. Wakefield will oversee a staff of 1,400 employees and a multi-billion dollar budget, and will be in charge of allocating $2.5 billion from the stimulus package for medical training and health care infrastructure.
