This year, the AONE Institute for Nursing Leadership Research and Education (AONE Institute), an affiliate of the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) and a 501(c)(3) unit of the Health Research and Educational Trust, reaches a milestone as it celebrates ten years of supporting research and special projects that further AONE’s mission and vision in the areas of nursing leadership.
Over the past ten years, the AONE Institute, through the generous support of AONE members and industry partners, has funded a wide variety of programs in an effort to set the global agenda for nursing leadership research. The programs include research seed grants to support research projects related to nursing administration practice, education scholarships to support nurse executives and nurse managers/directors who are pursuing an advanced course of study in nursing administration, and recognition awards to honor AONE members (as well as an AONE chapter) who have demonstrated the “best of the best” in leadership practice, and whose work sets an example for every nurse leader.
“The AONE Institute is a very important vehicle of AONE—one that furthers knowledge and evidence regarding the practice and impact of effective nursing leadership,” said AONE President Donna Herrin, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CENP, FACHE. “Additionally, the AONE Institute funds the recognition of excellence in nursing leadership, recognizing the exemplary work of nurse leaders of which we all can be proud.”
To commemorate a decade of promoting nursing leadership research and education, the AONE Institute has launched a 10-Year Anniversary Fund to support its continuing awards, scholarships and research seed grants. All contributions to the Health Research and Educational Trust on behalf of the AONE Institute are fully tax-deductible. Donations can be made by sending a check (payable to the Health Research and Educational Trust/AONE Institute) to HRET/AONE Institute, 1 N. Franklin Street, Suite 2800, Chicago, IL 60606 .
As the AONE Institute kicks off its 10-year anniversary celebration, it will also begin accepting proposals for its 2010 Research Seed Grant Program on September 1, 2009 and nominations for its 2010 Award and Recognition Program on September 15, 2009. The submission deadline for both proposals and nominations is December 15, 2009. All award and seed grant recipients will be honored at the 2010 AONE Annual Meeting, April 9-13, in Indianapolis, Indiana . Source: AONE
