Nov. 12, 2009 - Karen H. Morin, RN, DSN, ANEF, begins her term as the 28th president of the  Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI). Morin will lead the 130,000-member, global organization for the next two years and calls on members to connect through knowledge for global health. She plans to actively resume the work undertaken during the 2007-2009 biennium and continue to move towards achieving STTI’s Vision 2020 goals for a more global society.

Morin, in her Presidential Call to Action, explains, “My dream is that we continue to create an environment that excites current members and entices others to join. In so doing, we can enhance our knowledge resources, contribute to global health and create a legacy of personal leadership.”

Morin’s life has been dedicated to furthering health education. She began her academic career teaching maternal-child health nursing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She now works as director of the doctoral program at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Throughout her career, Morin has taught undergraduate, masters and doctoral students in both private and public universities.

Morin, along with the guidance of the newly elected board, plans to connect members, chapters and nurses through knowledge in order to improve the health of the world’s people. The four areas Morin addresses for the achievement of her goal include:
