According to a recent publication by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), most of the 26 million Americans who have kidney problems don't know it. Although kidney disease is serious, a lack of symptoms in the early stages of the disease can lead to kidney failure. If you or your patient are in a high risk group (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, vascular disease, or kidney disease in the family) it is extremely important to be tested. The only way to identify the disease in its initial stages is through blood and urine testing. Early detection and prevention (such as treating hypertension) are elemental in maintaining kidney health. For more information visit:
